History of "Chase District Association"

Barry Rook along with six other members were the founder members of the Chase DA, it was founded after the 1979 N.F.O.L. at Alton Towers.   The initial meeting was held at Walton Village Hall at the beginning of 1980.   The application went to Club HA and then a notice of intention was displayed in the Club Magazine to see if there were any objections.   After one month the National Council gave their approval.  Once approval was received a meeting of interested members was advertised and at the end of the meeting a temporary committee was agreed.

All sorts of names were discussed for the DA including Walton, Milford, Stafford, Central Staffs and finally the name of Chase was decided upon and hence the Chase DA was formed.  The Chase emblem was taken from the Cannock Chase motif, in the first 2 years the DA had 4 different pennons.   The first two were wrong, the printers did the first one with a Moose head instead of a deer.   It then took two more attempts to get it right, and then the Club changed its name from the Camping Club to the present name.

The DA started off on a good footing as 75% of the members were Regional Councillors.   The DA for many years were the leaders of the North Central Region. Over the years the DA has produced lots of Regional Councillors, and at least 5 National Councillors, one Club Chairman, a Club Treasurer and now a club Vice President.
